I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling 22!
Ohh birthdays.. The thing I used to hate, but now aren’t so bad. This year, I spent my twenty second birthday in self quarantine.
My family has under self quarantine for about a month now. Life on the homestead has been pretty normal, but not going out to the store to get stuff like birthday and Easter stuff has taken a toll on everyone. As we all scramble to get stuff around for a quarantined Easter, my birthday was of little concern to me. (Quiet birthdays are secretly my favorite!)
My brother woke up at 3 in the morning to decorate my door (a tradition we do every year), and my grandmother had so kindly woken up as well to take pictures. I was asleep at the time in my room and didn’t hear a thing!
When I DID wake up, I tried my best to get out of my door without breaking the streamers, only to break one streamer and loose the game! So close! (You can see the broken streamer at the bottom right of my door..)
The house was decorated with tons birthday decorations and there were fresh blueberry muffins baking in the oven for breakfast. ❤
I didn’t miss out seeing friends for my birthday ether! My friend Kenna came over and -keeping her distance- sat and chatted with me for a bit! She brought me a LOT of (much needed) candy for my birthday/Easter! (Which I promptly wiped down before I brought it in the house.)
Later in the evening, a family friend came over and dropped off some ice cream for my birthday. (Again, we all kept our distance and I wiped down the ice cream before I took it in the house.)
I made asked brother to make Spaghetti and Meatballs for my birthday dinner, which turned into me sitting there showing him how to make it because apparently he doesn’t know how to make Spaghetti. It was nice to watch my brother cook for once, and I could just sit back and chat with him while I slipped in directions here and there. (He didn’t believe me when I told him that he had to throw the spaghetti on the ceiling to test if it was ready to eat!!!) The spaghetti turned out great by the way!
Overall I had an amazing birthday and I couldn’t have asked for a better one. I got a lot of ‘Happy Birthdays’ wishes on Facebook and a call or two from family and close friends. I got to see some friends (from a distance). And I got to spend the day with my family! ❤
I know that we all have to do our part to keep our distance from people, so I’m more than happy to stay at home and have a chill birthday.
And the topper on the metaphorical cake? We are under a thunderstorm warning right now! I LOVE STORMS!!! 😍 I get to sit here and watch some pretty lightning and listen to some loud thunder as I write this. ❤
