Happy New Year everyone! After the disaster that was 2020, 2021 has GOT to be better! Although a few good things did come out of 2020 like; college, new friends, a new job, and my family finally being all together again, all of those good things will always be tainted by the black vail that seams to have fallen over 2020. With 2021 finally here, the black vail seams to have gone away, covered by a white vail of pure glittering ice. A good sign I hope..?
I woke up today to find a thick layer of ice and snow over everything. I am desperately hopping that this is Mother Natures way of cleansing the Earth for the start of another year so that 2020 is killed off and 2021 can grow out of the ashes. (Metaphorically of course, let’s not burn anything down this year please!!!)
With all of the pretty ice and snow, I decided to go for a walk around my parents property (where I am currently staying) and take some pictures. The second I started walking through the woods, I was instantly reminded of Narnia. It felt like I had just walked through the wardrobe and was walking through the frozen woods of Narnia. The only thing that was missing was the lamp-post!
As I was coming back from my peaceful walk through the woods, I found my father up in a tree cutting branches off over the guest cabin that I was staying in. The ice had weighed them down, making a pretty curtain over the path around the cabin. I was glad that I had taken a picture of the ice on them when I did, because they were now laying on the on the ground, not at all as pretty and magical looking like they were this morning.
After taking these pictures, I had gotten breakfast and went out to help my parents shovel and clean off the cars for the day.
Right now as I write this, I am wrapped up inside my cabin, in front of the heater, warming up after shoveling turned into a snowball fight with my father. So far, 2021 looks promising. Of course, so did 2020 exactly a year ago, so we shall see where this year takes us. For now, I am looking forward to a new year full of new possibilities and new opportunities to grow. If 2020 has taught me anything, it’s that every plan needs twenty back up plans for
if when the main plan goes wrong. So with 2021, I shall have Plan A, B, C, D, and every other letter of the alphabet.
I hope that everyone else’s New Year has started off on a good note. If not, you better change the song quick! 😉🎵🎵🎵🔊
As always, smile, have an amazing year, and remember that no matter what this year brings, YOU are in charge of your own destiny.
