Family Vacation to Warren Dunes

It’s not often that my family all gets together and takes a trip. In fact, I think the last time my entire family was under the same roof was before my father joined the Military.. This meant that taking a family vacation together was something very special to all of us.

At the beginning of May, my Grandparents, Parents, Aunts, Brother, and I all got in a vehicle and drove to a house by Lake Michigan in a town near Warren Dunes State Park.

The house was absolutely stunning! There were four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a huge screened-in front porch, a fire pit and a hammock in the back yard, and a huge kitchen (where my family spent most of our time).

My brother and I were in charge of food, so we had picked up some pastries at a local pastry shop and some fruit at the store. My Aunts had also brought some dough for making home made pizza. And my grandmother had brought enough banana bread and cupcakes to feed an Army. Saying that we ate good on this trip was an understatement. It felt like we were always in the kitchen cooking up good things. ❤

When we weren’t eating, or cooking in the kitchen, we were usually out by the fire-pit playing corn-hole or watching the fire burn many different colors (thanks to some color packets we threw in the fire).

It was so nice to see all of my family again, and we had the best time just hanging out for the entire weekend. At the end of the weekend we had all packed up, said goodbye to our pretty rental house, and hit the beach for one final hurrah!

You can’t be this close to the beach and not go to it!

It was the perfect day for the beach! A little windy I’ll admit, but it was sunny and warm! My Aunt T and I had climbed up a huge sand dune, played more corn-hole, and she showed my brother how to use a beach couch (those green things in the picture above).

(Side note, the beach was so nice that I had decided to go back there to that same beach the other day for a relaxing beach day and it reminded me that I really needed to get this post written…)

After the beach we found a nice picnic table to have lunch at, and than we all said our goodbyes and left. My brother and I got in my truck, rolled the windows down, and took an easy drive back home. (Well.. It was a nice and easy ride home until my father had decided to pass me in his car and make a race out of getting home.. Typical father move..) (He won by the way..)

Overall the trip was great and everyone had an amazing time!

Special thanks to my Aunt Kim, Aunt T, Grandparents, Mother, Father, and Brother for making this trip fun and memorable. I love you guys to the moon and back! ❤

As always, Smile, have a great day, and enjoy the little things in life.
