6 Ways to Stay Motivated in the New Year

Well, guys, it’s officially the New Year! The time for new goals, a new you, and a new year full of endless possibilities!

Aaaannnndddd, most of those goals go out the window within the first month..

So what are some ways you can stay motivated enough to stay on track with your New Year’s Resolutions/Goals? Well I’m glad you asked! (Shh, I know you didn’t ask, but pretend you did!) Below are six great ways you can stay on track and motivate yourself to keep up with your new year goals!

1. Listen to Motivational Speeches/Videos!

Motivational videos are a GREAT way to stay motivated. When I feel like I need a pep-talk from someone, I turn to YouTube or Spotify and find a motivational speech/video to listen to! Not only is it a great way to motivate myself, but they have different videos depending on what you need motivation for! (School, work, exercise, etc.)

2. Do your daily Affirmations!

This one is great if you’re trying to get that mindset for long-term motivation. Unlike motivational videos that inspire you for a moment, daily affirmations are something you do everyday and it takes weeks before it can change your mind to a motivated one. However, it is a good practice for those of you who want to be motivated long-term.

3. Surround yourself with Motivational Quotes!

Myself, I LOVE to surround myself with motivational quotes from Pinterest. I’ve written motivational quotes to put on my bathroom mirror, I’ve placed them randomly all throughout my college, and right now I have some hanging up above my bed! Motivational Quotes are great for motivating yourself to get stuff done, and looking through hundreds of them on Pinterest really gets you feeling pumped! (Until you start going down the Pinterest rabbit hole..)

4. Turn some music on!

Listening to music is a great way to get you pumped up for any occasion! I listen to it when I first wake up to get me wide awake! I listened to it in my truck on the way to work/school! And I listen to loud music while I clean to make cleaning more fun (which is the only way I can clean)! Listening to good energetic music can help motivate you to do stuff AND it puts you in a good mood! So why not crank up those toons and get to work!

5. Make a plan for Life!

When you sit down and make a plan for your life and what you want to accomplish, you are much more likely to accomplish that goal. Remember to dream big! But not so big that your dreams are impossible. By writing your goals down and coming up with a plan to achieve them, you create small and achievable steps to accomplish that goal, and you know what step needs to be taken next!

6. Create a Vision Board!

Just like with the motivational quotes, vision boards give you something to look at every day that allows you to see what you want to accomplish! For the one pictured below, I had my class information for college, a picture that I had colored of my dream house, and a savings sheet that showed me how much I had saved for my future house so far.
