How to Make Sweet Potato Chips at Home

What you need:

  1. Oil
  2. A Pan
  3. One Sweet Potato
  4. Salt (optional)
  5. Potato Pealer
  6. Paper Towels
  7. Cookie Sheet
  8. Tongs

What to do:

1. Put half an inch of oil in a fry pan and put it on the stove to heat.

2. Take the sweet potatoes and peel the skins off (optional). Then start slicing nice thick slices off with the potato peeler.

3. Once the oil is heated, place the thin slices of sweet potatoes in the oil, let it sit for a few seconds and flip over with the tongs.

4. Have a cookie sheet ready with some paper towels over it to catch the grease (I put a cooling rack on top, but it would have made no difference in the end). Once the sweet potatoes in the oil are lightly browned and crisp, take them out and put them on the cookie sheet to cool.

5. Sprinkle salt on them immediately before the oil dry’s completely (this will help the salt stick to them). Once cooled, eat them up!

This was something I seen on a YouTube video while watching homesteading videos. I love finding little gems like this and thinking to myself ‘well I could do that’! And now all of you can do it too! It’s super easy, just a bit time consuming, but the reward is worth it in the end!
