I FINALLY FOUND IT! I have been searching TWO WEEKS for my adapter for my camera chip, and I FINALLY found it!!! I know, call me old-fashioned, but I don’t have a fancy smart phone that I can take pictures with to upload them onto my blog. I use an old-fashioned camera, with an old-fashioned camera chip, and since my computer is newer and doesn’t have a spot for me to put a camera chip into, I had to get an adapter that is tiny and easy to lose. BUT DON’T WORRY, because I’ve got it right here and I’ve just spent the past hour going through my pictures so that I could show you guys the before and after shots of our new home!

First we will start with the living room…

We have done a lot of work with this house, but the living room was the easiest room to do, and it was the first one finished before we moved in! We had to scrub the walls down, paint over them with a primer that killed the cigarette odder, and then we painted the walls a pretty light brown color that brings the whole room together. ❤

Next was moving stuff in! We had honestly had a blast moving stuff in and deciding where I wanted to put everything! My amazing fiancé was in charge of home repairs while I was at work, so I had been in charge of unpacking after work. I was honestly thrilled that I got to be in charge of where everything went in the house! He had a few opinions on where stuff should go, but for the most part, I’ve gotten to take creative liberty with this house and make it the amazing place you see below!

I know you can’t see everything, and it’s a little dark due to the fact that I took it super early this morning, but there are five bookshelves, all completely full of books (one for movies) in this living room. All of the books make it feel so cozy and inviting, like sitting in a library. ❤ This room is also decorated for Spring at the moment, as you can just barely see two things of tulips siting around the living room, and a bowl of butterfly’s on the table in the center. 🦋🌷🦋🌷🦋 I love that I get to sit in my rocking chair and read while my fiancé plays his video games, or we can sit on the couch and watch Hogans Heros while I crochet.
Next we have the dining room!

When we first moved in, there were quite a few things that the old owner had left behind. One of those things was a huge dining room table and chairs! Although it must have looked cute in its prime, this thing was covered in cigarette gunk and needed to go. We stuck the table and chairs out by the road, and by the next day they were gone. 🙂 As for the walls, they had an awful bit of wallpaper behind the table that needed scrubbed down and painted over. We added curtains to the windows, and a pretty glass shelf next to it for extra storage in the kitchen (although it’s holding plants for us at the moment).

Our dining room has so much light from the sliding glass door next to it. We honestly love sitting here when we have guests over, as you can see almost the whole house from this table! ❤ (And yes, that’s snow you can see out the window, because I live in Michigan and Spring means that it’s 70 degrees one day and snowing the next!)
Now the Kitchen!

We still have a bit of the kitchen to clean, and this poor kitchen is the true center of the house, so we use it for everything! The kitchen counters are often holding tools, food, lightbulbs that need replaced, boxes that need unpacked, and many other things as we continue to fix up this house. We haven’t done any painting in this room because most of the walls are tile. So most of what we did in here was scrub all of the cabinets out, replaced the stove and fridge (which were awful!), and painted the ceiling!

Although we have a LONG way to go with the kitchen still, and we have lots of boxes yet to unpack, it is coming along nicely. ❤ Even though we still have boxes of food that hasn’t been unpacked yet, I have still managed to make quite a few home-cooked meals in this kitchen, as well as some homemade bread, and plenty of cookies!
Onto the bathroom!

Okay, so admittedly, I think I’ve spent the MOST money and time on this room, as this has been my favorite project of the house! If any of you can recall, I had a shower curtain in my last bathroom with a picture of a babbling brook running through the forest on it. (See below!)

And although I had all of the pretty colors to make it feel like a forest, I couldn’t truly do anything with that bathroom, since we lived in an apartment… But HERE! We own this house! So you better believe that I turned it into the forest themed bathroom of my dreams!

There are ferns everywhere, vines going around the walls, tulips above the toilet, and even a little fairy door upon the shelf! We painted the bathroom walls green, and although everyone made fun of the color at first, it all came together in the end! Isn’t this the cutest bathroom you ever saw?! Now we can feel like we are showering in the rainforest and crapping in the woods! 🥳🎉🌲🌳🌲
Next up, the laundry room!

So, this room wasn’t ‘too’ bad, until we took the red shelves off that you see in the background.. Once those came off, you can tell that those years of cigarette smoke and dryer lint had been building up behind it! It was lucky that a fire hadn’t started from how much crap was stuck to the walls behind it! We had initially intended to put those red shelves back up, but after seeing how dirty they truly were, we decided against it. They may get cleaned up and put up in the garage someday, but for now, we have other shelves we intend on putting up in the laundry room.

After cleaning, and painting a shocking shade of blue on the walls (the ceiling still needs to be finished), the laundry room is now a quiet place for laundry, coats on the wall, and the cats litter box. ❤ I can’t tell you how nice it is to finally be able to do my own laundry after a year of taking laundry to my parents’ house to do it! No more trying to plan trips for my days off, or making my fiancé bring laundry over! We now have our own way to wash our clothes! And if we run out of clean clothes, that’s on us!
Lastly, the bedroom!

Ohh the bedroom.. Our get away from the rest of the crazy house. The first room to be unpacked and lived in. And the best room for naps! How we love this room.. ❤

We have recently replaced the shades with dark brown curtains, which allow for the room to be dark if we wish, even on the sunniest of days. We had also (much like the bathroom) painted the bedroom a beautiful dark shade of green (pine, to be exact), so that the room can feel darker when we try to sleep at night. The cats are loving their tower in the bedroom, as they can jump straight from the tower to the bed, and pounce on us in the middle of the night. And when we wake up with a start and yell at them not to do that, they can quickly jump back to the safety of their cat tower and pretend that they never did it in the first place. 😛

So there you go! That’s the tour of our amazing house in all of its glory! We still have a long way to go, and in another month, work will begin on the outside of the house! But first, we will be finishing up the inside and unpacking everything so that my brother can move in. ❤
I hope that you enjoyed the pictures of our new home! I certainly enjoyed looking at all of the before and after pictures myself, because this was the first time since we got the place that I had seen all of the pictures side by side. ❤ We have come a long way in this past month, and we still have a lot further to go!
That’s it for today! But now that I have my camera chip reader back, I will certainly be posting a lot more and trying to get back into my regular schedule again! Thank you all for being so patient with me as I have been moving, cleaning, and making this house a home. ❤ We are so excited to share this next step of our lives with you guys!
As always, smile, have an amazing day, and HAPPY SPRING Y’ALL!

May the LORD bless your home!

Brilliant. I am not a green person when it comes to paint. But what you have done with the bathroom and bedroom I absolutely love it.
Enjoy the process of making your home yours, together and building memories. And oh yes, I can remember just how nice it was to launder my own washing than going to my mum’s to get it done.
