Holly Michigan Renaissance Festival – Vacation Day 2

On the third day of vacation, it was time to return home! Time seemed to speed up as we were driving back, and we were already halfway home when we finally stopped to stretch our legs and use the bathroom. This is when we came upon a little town called Eaton Rapids.

The town looked like something straight out of a Hallmark movie, and the leaves were just starting to turn yellow for Autumn.

In the middle of town was an old telephone booth. It didn’t work anymore (we checked), but it was really cool to see!

After walking around town for a while, we stumbled upon a river and saw an island in the middle of it. So naturally, we had to find the bridge!

There was a beautiful stone bridge we found going across the river to the island. We were thrilled to find this little hidden gem of a park!

There wasn’t much on the island besides a playground, a gazebo, and an old cannon. It wasn’t a historic site, according to the plaques placed everywhere. It was created to be a meeting ground and event spot back in the day. The cannon on the island was next to some bronzed boots in honor of all of the community members who fought in Iraqi Freedom. That was truly a site to see for two Military Brats.

After walking around the island for a bit, we left to get one last walk in around town before getting back into the car to continue our trip back home.

We found this incredible mural while walking back up to the car, and I had to snap a picture of it!

Finally, I snapped a picture of this sign which talked about some of the town’s history before getting in the car to leave.

All in all, this was TRULY one of the best hidden gems we have found in a long time!

It was another two hours or so until we were home after this. It was so nice to be back home again and out of the car! We could stretch our legs, get something to eat, and then sleep in our soft bed that didn’t try to attack us with springs as we slept.

We had an amazing time on our vacation, but it was great to be back home after such a long trip!
