Weekly Update on Our Little Homestead

~

It is a freezing cold 39 degrees outside today, and the wind is blowing hard! I was hoping for it to warm up a bit, so that I could get the rest of the flowering bushes planted before work. But I guess that’ll have to wait until tomorrow.

So, what’s been happening on the homestead??

Well! The plants from last week are doing great! Most of them are still dormant, but some of them are already showing signs of life!

On top of that, our neighbor helped us cut some limbs off of a tree up front, and we helped them cut up a tree they had cut down on their property in exchange for some wood. Most of it was green wood, so we piled the small stuff up on the side of the garage to dry out for a few months before we cut it up for kindlin.

Another thing we FIANLLY got done that’s been on our to-do list since we moved in was our compost! We bartered some berry bushes with our neighbor for some pallets, and we set up a compost similar to the one I had set up at my grandmother’s house. Only, I made this new one out of pallets, not sheet metal and siding. (Use what you have. 🤷‍♀️)

And lastly this week, I set up all of the last-minute details for our wedding reception. We had a few things ordered last minute, and with just recently moving, I had sadly ‘misplaced’ a few things. I had to go out and buy another flower crown for myself, since I can’t for the life of me find the one I had packed.. Good news though, the flower crowns for the guests came in!

All in all, this week has been amazing! ❤ I got to spend some time with my family, I had a few ‘date days’ with my fiancé where we went out thrift shopping, and I got to spend some time outside planting bushes and looking at all of the beautiful progress that was made on our tiny homestead.

I will be posting more about the reception soon and all of the special little details we will be adding. 👰🤵💒

Until next time, smile, have an amazing day, and happy planting. ❤
