Weekly Update; Taking Down the Christmas Lights

~

The tree is down and swept up, the lights are put back in their box, the ornaments are packed away, and the wreath is off the door. The only things left from Christmas are the winter snow globes and the candles upon the table.

Next month I will be decorating for Valentines Day and Spring, but for now, the snow is falling lightly to the ground outside. The house smells of peppermint and sugar cookies from the candles lit upon the table, and I have music playing on my laptop as I clean.

Potato slices are in the dehydrator I got for Christmas, as I try my luck at homemade potato chips today. Yesterday’s project was dehydrated apples and those turned out phenomenal! (I will post a recipe soon!)

Today is also cleaning day! As I slowly take down the Christmas decorations, I am desperately trying to clean as I go! This would be easier if the cats weren’t interested in everything I was doing, and they also wouldn’t lay on everything I try to clean.. But I suppose that is just preparation for what it’s like to have kids one day. 🤷‍♀️

My fiancé is away today helping his cousin, so I get the house to myself. It’s peaceful and quiet right now (besides the music playing) and the snow is the perfect addition to that quiet. Unlike rain, which can be loud and obvious, snow is purely quiet as it slowly covers the outside world in a thin white blanket.

We are supposed to get snow for the rest of the week, and by next weekend it is predicted to be in the single digits for temperatures!!! It’s a good thing I’ve just crocheted myself a new scarf and slippers from the Christmas yarn my fiancé got me!

Dinner is now in the oven as I finish up this blog post for the week. I hope everyone is having an amazing start to the new year! And as always, smile, have an amazing day, and find some quiet in your life. ❤
