Hello, my lovely readers, and welcome to one of my last posts on this blog..
First, let me start by saying that this blog has meant the absolute world to me as I’ve navigated college, finding our beautiful homestead, getting married, and everything in between! This blog has been my go-to for getting my thoughts out, bragging about my achievements, and encouraging me to chase my dreams.
For those of you who have been with me for a while, you have seen me go through so much to achieve my dreams of having this homestead! It isn’t much land, but we use it well. We have brought chickens onto this land, we have planted flowers, bushes, veggies, and we have just put in two fruit trees the other day. You have watched me create my business of ‘Farm Girl Homesteading‘ and make a name for myself at the Farmers Markets and online.

With so many changes, it was time to add one more change to the list..
My business of Farm Girl Homesteading was my baby. But it was MY baby, and I was very protective over it. My husband tried to help, but at the end of the day, it was my business.
After several months of discussion and plenty of ‘let’s sleep on it’ nights, we came up with our new name: ‘Independence Homestead‘. Same products, same farmers markets, same people running the show, but this time it’s our baby.

I can’t tell you how hard of a decision this was to make.. I had a name that everyone knew! I had a website, a stamp, business cards, and an email for my Farm Girl Homesteading business. It would have been so easy to just stay with that name!
But nothing in life is easy.
While I was struggling with the transition into a new business name for our homestead, my mother gave me some wisdom that only a mother can give.. She reminded me that Farm Girl Homesteading was a great era of my life, but now it was time for a new era. And that pushed me over the edge into accepting this change.
So welcome to my new era of life! That in which my husband and I both run this show. We are keeping it simple and only having a Facebook page for our business, to which we will post what we will sell, what markets we will be at, and eventually, what our farmstand will have. You guys are more than welcome to follow me there on our Facebook Page once this blog has ended it’s days online.
And yes, as much as I love this blog and everything I have written, that too must come to an end. My new era of life does not involve writing my thoughts to strangers on the internet, but rather, writing my thoughts privately in a notebook. I want to spend less time online and more time out in the real world doing markets, making crafts, or enjoying my family time at home. I want to bake bread and cookies for my family. I want to work in the gardens. And most importantly, we want a life offline. ā¤
I will miss this amazing world of blogging and seeing the many blog posts from all of the other homesteaders! I hope to find an amazing community like this again someday. But for now, we are excited to start this new chapter of our lives in a different light. ā¤
As always, my lovely readers… Smile, have an amazing day, and I hope y’all have a great summer!
Yours truly, Farm Girl Homesteading (Independence Homestead).
